HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION YEAR 7 HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION In PE students will undertake units of study on: Team Strategy and Cooperative Games, Netball, Gymnastics, Fitness, Hockey, Volleyball, Badminton, Soccer and Athletics. Students will be focussing on becoming an effective member of a team and developing their fundamental sporting skills. In Health students will be learning about setting goals and values, dimensions of health, body image, nutrition and being fit for life. Students will focus on identifying key aspects in their life that can lead them to making healthy and active choices in life. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Physical Education • Refinement of technique in complex movement and manipulative skills. • Identification of their physical activity levels and factors that can influence and motivate physical activity. • Understanding of how the choice of appropriate motor skills, strategies and tactics can improve individual and team performance. • Practise and apply personal and social skills when undertaking a range of roles in physical activities Health • Reflection on personal values and goals • Health knowledge and promotion • Reflectionon current andpossible future experiences of adolescence • Identify strategies to make healthy choices. YEAR 8 HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION In Physical Education students will participate in Team Strategy Games, Tennis, Aussie Rules Football, Speedball, Athletics, Softball, Basketball, Training for Fitness, Cultural and Disability Sports Students will be focussing on identifying and implementing ways to improve movement, compare movement strategies and enhance their understanding of fitness. InHealthstudentswill focussingonhowtobea respectful member of the community, identifying their values and relationship in the Respectful Relationships unit and learning about harm minimisation strategies through the units of Drug Education and Sexual Education. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Physical Education • Increasing proficiency of complex movement and manipulative skills. • Measurement and analysis of their own physical activity levels, and recommendations for improving or maintaining those levels. • Application of a combination of motor skills, strategies and tactics to improve individual and team performance.
