Students plan and self-assess throughout an Outdoor Ed programme in Semester 1. They develop team building and leadership qualities through a range of activities such as; Commando Course, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Surfing, Kayaking, Bush walking, Laser strike, and High Ropes.
Students also help in the local primary inter schools athletics carnival officiating in arrange of athletics events, and in the local primary Hoop Time basketball competitions.
The course also incorporates some accredited qualification; Level 1 First Aid, AFL umpiring (with the option to umpire the Oz kick at the MCG and Marval stadium during the AFL season), and Bronze Medallion/Bronze Star with Life Saving Victoria.
During Semester 2 students undertake community service in the local primary schools, running sports programmes and athletics programmes, allowing the students to demonstrate the skills they have learnt and developed earlier in the course. Lesson plans are written, delivered, and evaluated.
The conclusion of the course will allow students to improve their communication, organisation, leadership, self-esteem, assertiveness, and team work skills, as well as gaining some universally recognised qualifications that they can take with them into the work place.
